Siemens AG’s health care chief says the long-run savings of using medical-imaging technology need to be considered when Congress considers cost-savings in a health care reform plan. Tom Miller, CEO of the Siemens health care unit, the largest maker of imaging equipment for medicine, is urging lawmakers to consider that information gleaned through CT scans contribute to the efficiency of patient treatment and avoid hospitalization. Proposals have been made to cut Medicare spending for medical scans, but Miller says that is just the opposite of what should be happening. (Click here for more – a subscription may be required)
