Covidien laid off another 119 workers, these temporary employees at its plant in Seneca, S.C. A Covidien official cited a decline in sales for the layoffs, leaving a full-time workforce of 503 intact. A spokesman said the layoffs were caused by a decline in demand for the firm’s vascular-therapy compression sleeves. He said the company had overestimated demand, so it is reducing production plans based on projections the lower demand would continue into fiscal year 2010. (Click here for more)
