A Medtronic-funded study showed that cerebral palsy patients can benefit from a mild electrical current administered to the brain. The French research involved Medtronic devices similar to pacemakers implanted into patients for deep-brain stimulation. Participants in the study were patients with cerebral palsy that includes dystonia-choreoathetosis, a disabling movement disorder that about 10 percent of cerebral palsy patients have. After a year, eight of the 13 participants showed motor symptom improvements, according to the published study. (Click here for more)
