Medtronic has formed an alliance with Vital Images software firm to develop a service providing three-dimensional views of veins. Medtronic is aiming the device at surgeons for treating aortic aneurysms. Medtronic calls the device 3D Recon for converting two-dimensional computed tomography images into three-dimensional ones. The images avoid showing bone and anatomy in the views. Vital Images already had won FDA approval of the system. (Click here for more)
