Medtronic’s payments of $1.2 million to a University of Minnesota professor over a four-year period has led the school to reconsider its honor system for dealing with conflicts of interest. The university’s current system specifies only that employees file an annual disclosure if they make at least $10,000 in outside income. Dr. David Polly was disclosed not to have filed such reports and the university said it was unaware of the large consultant fees he received from Medtronic. (Click here for more)
