Medtronic has hired St. Jude Medical’s former business leader to head the cardiology-device unit. Michael Coyle was credited with overseeing St. Jude’s rapid growth in devices to regulate heart rhythm. He is now seen by at least one analyst as a possible successor to Medtronic’s CEO. Coyle’s new title at Medtronic is executive vice president and group president of the cardiology businesses. Medtronic combined its business units in August into two main groups, one for heart devices, the other for orthopedics and other devices. (Click here for more – a subscription may be required)
