Boston Scientific has begun marketing its Taxus Element drug-eluting stent in Europe. The European Union approved the stent in May for use in diabetes patients. Boston Scientific has a partnership agreement with Angiotech Pharmaceuticals to develop the stent in the United States, where they expect an FDA decision by the middle of next year, a few months later in Japan.
