Cook Medical said it was recalling its Ciaglia Blue Rhino and Ciaglia Blue dolphin from the market because they rely on devices recalled earlier. At issue are 17 lots of Cook’s percutaneous tracheostomy devices that contain a device made by Covidien. The associated Covidien device is the Shiley tracheotomy tube, which the maker recalled in April because of problems with pilot balloons. Covidien said the devices were subject to malfunctioning.
